Using Rummble on the Web

Home Page
The Home Page is the first page you come to after signing in, the main fun functionality here is:
- Setting your Status

Setting Your Status
It's good to keep this up-to-date as much as possible, change your status by clicking on the link.
Status refers to what you're doing at the present time.
You can make it as creative as you like.
You can also set your status from your phone.
Setting Your Location
Click on the link to set/change your location
Enter your new location.
If there is more than one place in the world with the same place name, click on the correct choice from the given list, then click 'Go'.
Your location will then be automatically set to your new location until it's changed again.

Sending a Quick Message to Another User
Enter a user's name or friends name, if there are more than one person with the same name choose from the given list.
There are 10,240 characters for sending a message via the Rummble website or 120 by text, the counter tells you how many are remaining.
After writing your message choose between a text or website message then click 'Send'.
A confirmation comment will appear when the meassage has been successfully sent.
Friends Online
By clicking on 'Your Friends' the map will show nearby friends online.
Or by clicking on the '6 degrees' link the map will show everybody online in your trust network.
Below the map, also shown are all your friends online, move the cursor over the photo to see who it is and have the opportunity to send them a text or website message.
Search for Rummbles by Location
By clicking the 'Search for Rummbles by location ' link, Rummbles will be shown on a map.
The immediate map to be shown will be that of Rummbles near your Set Location. This can be changed by selecting a different country or city.
Another option is to open the 'All visible tags' and show Rummbles by type, then select a type from the drop down menu e.g. 'Bars' or 'Restaurants'.
The initial map shown shows all Rummbles from your friends '6 degrees of seperation' network. To refine your search use the drop down menu to choose another category including the option just to show your own Rummbles (which are shown on the map in black rather than purple).
By moving the cursor over the Rummble icon on the map a box will appear with details of that rummble and who created it.
It is also possible to create a new Rummble from here by clicking on the 'Create a new Rummble' botton.
Invite Your Friends
Click the 'Invite Your Friends' link to send them an invitation to join Rummble.
Latest Nearest Rummbles
This list of Rummbles shows the latest nearby Rummbles to be created. By moving the cursor over 'RUMMBLE' information on who created it, their trust level with you and hopw much they rated the venue will be shown.
By clicking on the Rummble title e.g. 'Ta Bouche' (or the photo) full information and review/comments will be shown about the venue.
If you have also experience of the same Rummble, enter your comments by clicking the link 'Experienced this?'.
Also from here it's possible to create a new Rummble or view more Latest Nearest Rummbles (only three latest nearest Rummbles are ever shown here at one time).
Latest Rummbles From your Friends
This is similar to 'Nearest Latest Rummbles' but shows latest Rummbles from your friends.
Blog Stream
The Blog Stream contains comments from yourself and your friends, you can view what other users have commented on a particular blog entry by clicking the 'Comments' link.
From the 'comments' link you will see who else has commented on the blog entry. By clicking on the 'respond to this post' link you can add your own comments.
By clicking the 'New Post' button you can add a new entry to your friend's blog.

You can expand your friends network by importing your friends list from Microsoft Outlook or any other popular email client. After you have imported them you can choose from the list who you want to invite to join or to have as your friend.
The basic procedure goes like this
- Export your list from your email account, or connect to your contacts list in Facebook, LinkedIn or Bebo.
- Go to INVITE FRIENDS and import the list
- Choose who to add as friends and who to invite
- End up with a much bigger and better friends network!

Outlook
To export a CSV or tab-delimited text file from Outlook:
- Open Outlook
- Select "Import and Export" from the File menu
- When the wizard opens, select "Export to a file" and click "Next"
- Select "Comma separated values (Windows)" and click "Next"
- Select the Contacts folder you would like to export and click "Next"
- Choose a filename and a place to save the file (for instance, "Contacts.csv" on the Desktop), then click "Next"
- Confirm what you are exporting: make sure the checkbox next to "Export..." is checked and click "Finish"
- You can now go to INVITE FRIENDS in Rummble, click BROWSE... and navigate to where you saved the file (e.g. on the Desktop) select the file, then press GO to upload your list. You can then choose who to add!
Outlook Express
To export a CSV or tab-delimited text file from Outlook Express:
- Open Outlook Express
- Select "Export" from the "File" menu
- Click "Export", and then click "Address Book"
- Select "Text File" (Comma Separated Values), and then click "Export".
- Choose a filename and a place to save the file (for instance, "Contacts.csv" on the Desktop) and click "Next"
- Click to select the check boxes for the fields that you want to export, and then click "Finish". Please be sure to select the email address and name fields.
- Click "OK" and then click "Close"
- You can now go to INVITE FRIENDS in Rummble, click BROWSE... and navigate to where you saved the file (e.g. on the Desktop) select the file, then press GO to upload your list. You can then choose who to add!
Windows Address Book
To export a CSV file from Windows Address Book:
- Open Address Book
- From the "File" menu, select "Export", then "Other Address Book…"
- When the "Address Book Export Tool" dialog opens, select "Text File (Comma Separated Values)" and click "Export"
- Choose a filename and a place to save the file (for instance, "Contacts.csv" on the Desktop) and click "Next"
- Click to select the check boxes for the fields that you want to export, and then click "Finish". Please be sure to select the email address and name fields
- Click "OK" and then click "Close"
- You can now go to INVITE FRIENDS in Rummble, click BROWSE... and navigate to where you saved the file (e.g. on the Desktop) select the file, then press GO to upload your list. You can then choose who to add!
Palm Desktop
To export a CSV file from Palm Desktop:
- Open Palm Desktop
- Display your contacts list by clicking the "Addresses" icon on the lefthand side of the screen
- Select "Export" from the "File" menu
- When the dialog box opens:
- Enter a name for the file you are creating in the "File name:" field
- Select "Comma Separated" in the "Export Type" pulldown menu
- Be sure to select the "All" radio button from the two "Range:" radio buttons
- A second dialog box "Specify Export Fields" opens. Leave all of the checkboxes checked, and click "OK"
- You can now go to INVITE FRIENDS in Rummble, click BROWSE... and navigate to where you saved the file (e.g. on the Desktop) select the file, then press GO to upload your list. You can then choose who to add!
Entourage
To export a tab-delimited text file from Entourage:
- Open Entourage
- Select "Export" from the "File" menu
- Select "Local Contacts to a list (tab-delimited text)"
- Click the "Next" arrow
- Choose a filename and a place to save the file (for instance, "Contacts.txt" on the Desktop), then click "Save"
- Click "Done" in the confirm dialog
- You can now go to INVITE FRIENDS in Rummble, click BROWSE... and navigate to where you saved the file (e.g. on the Desktop) select the file, then press GO to upload your list. You can then choose who to add!
Other Programs
Most email clients and PIM programs allow contacts to be exported to a file. We support the following types of contact file:
- Comma-separated values (.csv)
- Tab-delimited text (.txt)
Please check your email client's documentation to see whether contact export to one of these formats is supported. If it's not, you can make a suggestion for us to add support for the contact file format that your email client is capable of exporting.
Once you have exported the file, you can then go to INVITE FRIENDS in Rummble, click BROWSE... and navigate to where you saved the file (e.g. on the Desktop) select the file, then press GO to upload your list. You can then choose who to add!

Your messages page is where you can view the messages you have sent and received to and from other members or the Rummble System.
Top Bar
- To create a new message click compose.
- To change the folder you are viewing select another folder from the folder select box. (Note that folders with the names of the members you have sent or received messages from are automatically created for you, this allows you to easily view all messages you have sent or received from that person).
- To perform an action on the message (For example delete) select an action from the actions select box after you have selected one or more messages.
- To select all the messages on the current page simply click on the check box to the right.
The Message List
This is a summary of the message you have sent or received with some useful icons that indicate whether the message has been forwarded – replied to – read and unread.
The mobile icon indicates that the message was a SMS message and a text icon will indicate that the message was an online one.
You can click on the sender’s name to go to their profile, or the message extract to read the full message.
When you are viewing your Outbox, a new message icon indicates that the other member has not read the message yet. A read message icon indicates that the other member has read the message or has chosen to hide the message status from the sender.
Message View
When you click on a message you are taken to the message view page to read the full message.
You can click Back to go to the message folder you were looking at.
Click Forward to forward this message to a friend.
Click Profile to visit the sender’s Profile.
Click Block to block the sender. They won’t be able to send you anymore messages or view your profile.
Click Delete to delete this message.
You can quickly reply to the current message by writing a message in the box below.
Message Compose Page
You can send new messages from the Message Compose page.
Simply type in the members you wish to send the message to (Separate multiple entries with a comma ,) or select multiple friends from the list on the right (The icons indicate whether the member can receive SMS messages or just online messages).
You can choose to send the message as SMS by choosing the SMS icon (Note that you must have sufficient credits to send SMS) or you can send as many Web messages as you want.

The Gallery lets you explore photos by you and your friends.
You can always comment on your own or other members photos, however you can only tag Photos that are uploaded by you or your Friends.
To tag a photo simply click on the Tag this Photo button then click and hold on the image to set a start point for the rectangle, then move your mouse over the photo while holding down the click, then release the mouse click when you’re satisfied with the rectangle you drew.
You can then enter a Friends name or a Comment for this Tag, you can choose a friend from your existing friends or simply enter a persons name if they are not a Member of Rummble yet, and you’ll be asked to enter their email address or mobile to invite them if you wish to.
After you have finished creating all your tags, simply click Finish Tagging to complete the process.
You can always delete comments or tags if you are the owner of the Photo, or if you created the comment or tag.
You can also delete tags that other members have created of you.
If you tag a photo that isn’t yours, the Photo owner will be asked to approve the tag first before it becomes visible to other members.
If you are the Photo’s owner, then you can edit the photo’s description by clicking on the description text. You can also rotate the photo and choose who can view it (anyone, or just your friends, or you only).

The gallery organiser allows you to:
- Upload Photos
- Create Albums
- Your Profile Photo
- Link to other Web-Based Photos
- Upload Photos
This is where you can upload Photos, and organize them into Albums.
To upload photos simply select the image from your hard disk and click upload.
You can upload up to 5 photos simultaneously. Just keep clicking Add another image.
Create Albums
You can always create Albums and organize your photos into different Albums, simply create an Album by entering a name for it, and an optional description. You can select who can view your Album and this setting will be global for all images inside this album, unless you specifically set the photo visibility to another setting.
To organize photos into Albums, simply drag the photos and drop them into the Album. You can select multiple photos at once by using Shift or Ctrl keys.
To delete Photos or Albums simply drag and drop them on the Trash Bin.
Note that deleting an Album automatically deletes all photos inside that Album.
You cannot edit or delete the default Album called Unsorted Photos, that album contains your Profile Photos and Photos that you haven't put into Albums.
Your Profile Photo
Your profile Picture is visible to everyone by default, and that can’t be changed, if you don't want to set a Profile Picture simply click Clear Profile Photo.
To replace your Profile Picture simply drag another Photo and drop it over your Profile Picture.
Link to other Web-Based Photos
You can also Link to your Public Flickr Photos by providing your Flickr login details. Rummble users will be able to view your Flickr Photosets straight from Rummble! You can always remove your Flickr PhotoSets from Rummble safely - this won't affect your photos on Flickr in any way.
